KRBL: How to Grow a Rice Empire 

The importance of rice in alleviating the hunger of the world cannot be neglected. It is the staple food for more than half of the world’s population. Much of it is present in unbranded form, but there are a few companies that have made their place in the global market by providing rice grains in the form of brands representing quality. KRBL Ltd. is the world’s largest rice miller with a history of over a century.

1889: Khushi Ram and Behari Lal (KRBL) was founded in present-day Pakistan.

1993: KRBL Ltd. was incorporated.

1995: It got listed on the Indian stock market.

With over 90% of the rice produced in the world being consumed in Asia, it is one of the significant contributors having over 25% share in the exports under the basmati category in India. Its products are exported to 90+ countries under the brands such as India Gate, Unity Basmati, Bemisal, etc.
