Infosys Ltd: The IT Giant with a Glorious Past and a Bright Future
1981: A group of 7 engineers with an initial capital of just USD250 started Infosys in Pune.
1993: IPO was released, and it got listed on the Indian stock exchanges on June 14, 1993
1999: Created a milestone by becoming the first Indian company to be listed on Nasdaq.
Infosys is mainly involved in business consulting, IT (development & training), and business outsourcing solutions. It has clients from various industries all around the globe. It is also involved in emerging technologies like Cloud computing, AI and blockchain.
It was not always sunny for Infosys. It had its fair share of troubles. One of the biggest financial crises it faced was in 2008. The company’s revenue and profit took a hit because of very low IT demand. Due to this, Infosys’s share price fell approximately 68% from ₹442.10 in Dec 2007 to ₹138.64 in Dec 2008. It took 6 years, but Infosys recovered from this, and in Nov 2014, it touched a new high of ₹542.58.
