Deepak Fertiliser: A Story of Growth, Resilience, and Excellence in the Fertilizers and Chemicals Industry.

Considering the huge population of the world, it became necessary to use fertilisers for growing crops. Ammonia is one of the main fertilisers used in agriculture. Food security in India is indirectly dependent on the availability of fertilisers. The need for fertiliser was understood during the green revolution (1967-78). Deepak Fertiliser was incorporated to tap into the opportunity.

May 1979: Deepak Fertilisers & Petrochemicals Corp. Ltd. was incorporated.

June 1979: It was listed on the Indian stock exchange.

It deals in industrial chemicals, Technical Ammonium Nitrate (TAN), crop nutrition products, etc. It exports its products to 28+ countries. Various indices have it as its constituent, such as the Nifty 500, Nifty Smallcap 250, etc. It has won several awards for excellence in quality, innovation, sustainability, and corporate governance.

Due to the gas price hike in 2014, the input cost of ammonia production increased and reduced the profitability of the company.
