Polycab India: A Pioneer in the Indian Electrical Industry

Electricity as a secondary energy source is useless if we cannot transport it from the point of generation to the point of usage. Wires & cables provide its solution by providing a safe medium to transfer electricity from one place to another. The cables are used not only for transferring electricity but also for communication. Considering India’s status of a developing economy and immense opportunity in wires & cables, Polycab India Ltd. was established.

January 1996: Polycab Wires Pvt. Ltd. was incorporated.
June 2000: It became a deemed public company & its name was changed to Polycab Wires Ltd.
October 2018: The name of the company was changed to Polycab India Ltd.
April 2019: It got listed on the Indian stock market.

It started in 1964 as Sind Electric Stores. It sells cables, wires, fans, lighting & luminaires, switches, switchgear, etc., with its business divided into three segments: Wires & Cables, Fast Moving Electrical Goods (FMEG) and International business. Over 80% of its revenue comes from the wires & cables business.

It has a 24% market share and has 24+ manufacturing facilities exporting to over 69+ countries. Its products are shipped to all of the 6 habitable continents. Various indices have it as its constituent, such as the Nifty 200, Nifty India Manufacturing Index.
