Bank of Baroda started as a vision of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III of Baroda in Gujarat in 1908. Soon it became a public company in 1911 and a nationalised bank in 1969. The bank went public on the NSE in 1999. Since then, it has been included in various indices, such as Nifty 50 and Nifty Bank, in February 2022, replacing Indian Oil Corporation and RBL Bank, respectively. It was also included in Nifty PSU Bank in the same month.

It started in Gujarat, India, and now has a presence in 24 countries with a global network of 100 offices.
