Apollo Tyres: From a Small Indian Company to a Global Giant

Innovation is not limited by industry or product. Many companies are involved in research work to bring new products to fulfil the demands of consumers. The tyre industry has also innovated its products, whose results are clearly visible in better quality tyres available in the market. With its expertise of over 5 decades, Apollo Tyres is providing tyres that are rolling the growth of the economies worldwide.

Apollo Tyres Ltd. was incorporated.

May 1995
It was listed on the National Stock Exchange.

It is an Indian MNC with 4 manufacturing units in India and 1 unit each in the Netherlands & Hungary, catering to 99+ countries. Its products are available in the market under the brand name Apollo & Vredestein. According to the vehicle type, its tyre business is divided into 6 categories: (Car, SUV & van), (bike & scooter), agricultural, (truck & bus), industrial, & earthmover. Various indices, such as the Nifty 200, Nifty Total Market, etc., have it as their constituent.

To show its goodwill towards its customers, it also provides 24-hour emergency response service in Delhi NCR without additional costs on purchasing at least 2 tyres for a fixed time. It also provides insurance for its premium range of tyres, Alnac, All Apterra(TL) range and Aspire.

In FY 2019, it incurred a loss of ₹ 2000 Crores under exceptional items, due to which, even though its overall revenue increased, its profit was reduced by around 5%. It resulted in a fall in the share price by over 30%.
