Did you know that Axis Bank Ltd was not always called Axis Bank Ltd? It was founded in 1993 as UTI Bank Ltd, a joint venture of
Unit Trust of India and other public insurers. It changed its name to Axis Bank Ltd in 2007 and became a full-service universal bank. It debuted on the NSE on 16 November 1998, joining many indices like Nifty 50 in June 2009, Nifty Bank in September 2003, etc.

Axis Bank Ltd has four segments: Retail Banking, Corporate/Wholesale Banking, Treasury and Other Banking Businesses. It has a huge network of 4,903 branches and 15,953 ATMs in India and eight offices abroad as of 31 March 2023.
