Nowadays, every item one wants is available nearby in the shops due to the strong distribution network set up by companies for their products. These distribution networks are spread so much that reliable commercial vehicles are needed to ensure their supply chain doesn’t break. Ashok Leyland Ltd is in the business of commercial vehicles with an experience of over 6+ decades.

1948
Ashok Motors Ltd was incorporated.

1958
The name of the company was changed to Ashok Leyland Ltd.

It is an Indian MNC whose majority stake is owned by Hinduja Group and is India’s 2nd largest commercial vehicle manufacturer. In 2019, it became the 3rd largest bus manufacturer in the world. Its business is divided into 4 categories: Trucks, Buses, Light Vehicles, and Defence Vehicles, produced in 5 manufacturing plants in India & 1 in UAE. It has an international presence in 22+ countries.

Various indices, such as the Nifty Auto, Nifty Infrastructure, etc., have it as their constituent. In FY23, it spent ₹ 15.16 Crores on Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, including education, health, hygiene, nutrition, etc.

As the effect of the Coronavirus pandemic on the world became visible in the 4th quarter of FY20, its revenue dropped by over 40% & due to the lockdown, its revenue dropped further, thus posting a loss of ₹ 314 Crores in FY21.
