It has 8 power plants spread across 6 states with a power generation capacity of 13000+ MW; two are under construction. It started as a power trading company and forayed into power generation in 2009. Primarily, the power produced in a country is used within its boundaries. Still, it supplies electricity to Bangladesh through one of its power plants.

Various indices, such as the Nifty Total Market, Nifty Commodities, etc., have it as their constituent. It runs various Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives for education, community health, sustainable livelihood development, community infrastructure development, etc., and spent over 16 crores in FY 2023.
