UPL: Harvesting Success Together With Farmers

The world’s population is increasing continuously, and to support it, we need more food grown in the fixed space available. There are many ways to do so, starting from better seeds, soil, chemicals, etc. Considering the importance of food, the technological advancement in one country cannot be limited by boundaries & many companies are involved in research & development as well as marketing of agrochemical products. UPL Ltd. is working towards food security for billions of people through its innovative products with expertise of over 3 decades.

January 1985: Vishwanath Commercials Ltd. was incorporated.
February 1994: The name of the company was changed to Search Chem Industries Ltd.
February 1996: It got listed on the Indian stock market.
October 2013: The name of the company was changed from United Phosphorus Ltd. to UPL Ltd.

UPL stands for United Phosphorus Limited. It markets products such as agrochemicals, industrial chemicals, chemical intermediates, speciality chemicals, etc., divided into 2 business categories: technology & services. Under the technology business, it provides seeds, crop protection, bio-solutions, post-harvest, etc. Under the services business, it provides ProNutiva, farmer engagement, etc. It is present in 138+ countries through its various subsidiaries.

Various indices have it as their constituent, such as the Nifty 50, Nifty Total Market, etc. Under Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, it works for institutions of excellence, sustainable livelihood, nature conservation, etc. and has spent over ₹ 30 crores in FY23.
